Born in upstate New York, William Landmesser grew up immersed in the visual beauty of the Adirondacks and New England. For most of his professional life Mr. Landmesser has lived in rural Maine where he has developed a body of artwork that has been exhibited and collected regionally and nationally for twenty-five years.

The artist begins with preliminary life studies inspired by real or imagined images. These studies hold their own as collectible artworks. Those that speak most strongly to the artist are the basis for studio paintings that transcend mere reportage and have as their ultimate meaning the grace, goodness, and truth of the true Creator.
